Wike is fast becoming a part of the Nigerian Problem. By Dr. Prince Wumi Akintide

Wike is fast becoming a part of the Nigerian Problem.

Pa Adedibu and Wike are two birds of the same feather, but Wike is far more dangerous and far more deadly as a former Governor and now the Minister of Federal Capital Territory as a non- member of the Ruling APC

There were a few developments in Nigeria that are contradictory to the smooth running of a democratic experiment in the world.

Abeni Aso-Oke

Under normal condition and due the the principle of Separation of Powers, the Executive ought to be in charge of overall governance of the country while the Legislature ought to be in charge of making the Laws while the Judiciary should be in charge of interpreting the Law and giving the final ruling if there is a dispute or conflict between these 3 tiers of Government including the Media Group as members of the 4th Estate of the Realm.

The ruling of the Supreme Court as part of the Judiciary should be binding on all of the 4 tiers of Government and that is the Executive must nominate those who will sit in the Highest Court in the Country and the Legislature via the Senate must make sure they are all men of proven probity and integrity but that has not always been the case .

More often than not crooks who are favored by the Ruling Party and the Chief Executive have infiltrated bthe Judiciary making a mockery of the whole system.

Abeni Aso-Oke

Another development that has messed up Nigeria is the ruling that neither the Chief Executive at the Federal called President and at the State level called Governors can be charged to Court while they are still in office .

It is a bad Law for the crooks among them to commit as many crimes while in office because they are not answerable to the Courts or anyone

That explains while most or all of the Governors want to become Senators as soon as they live office as Governors and once they become Senators it becomes far much harder to hold them accountable for any crimes they have committed in office.
A good example is Yahaya Bello of Kogi the unrepentant Crook who is desperately trying to blackmail and replace Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, one of the best and the most effective benevolent Senators of Nigeria

Another critical observation is what is happening in Rivers State right now where Wike wants to continue to play the role of Governor and the same role that Pa Adedibu used to play in Oyo State before his death

Pa Adedibu got on a collision course with Governor Ladoja because Ladoja now the new Olubadan had stubbornly and legally refused to always pay him 20 percent of all revenues coming to Oyo State while Wike is asking for 30 percent of all revenues coming to Rivers State

Governor Ladoja refused to budge and he was removed by Adedibu with surreptitious support of Obasanjo as President of Nigeria.

That is precisely what Wike is trying to do to Fubara in Rivers State and hoping that President Tinubu is going to side with him just like Obasanjo has sided with Adedibu against Ladoja.

Nigeria would never heal and mend as long as our system continues to harbor and tolerate and condone this type of outlaw behavior and criminal illegalities

These are parts of what is wrong with Nigeria and what those who mean well for Nigeria must reject or confront

A dictator and a loose cannon like Wike who has doubled down as Minister in charge of Federal Territory ought to be called to order or forced to resign as Minister if he refuses to mend his ways and to realise that he cannot continue to have his way in a country governed by the Rule of Law.

I rest my case
