Yiba-Ama (ORUMA) Community Holds Reception in Honour of NDDC MD. By Chris Mark

Yiba-Ama Community (Oruma) in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State came alive as the people of the community holds a reception in honour of one of their illustrious son, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). Samuel Ogbuku.

The event which took place on Saturday 4th November,at the Community School field where children,youths, women and elders were in a jubilation mood as staff of NDDC, friends of the celebrant from all parts of the country were also on ground to be part of the celebration.

In a welcome address by the secretary of the planning committee, Ishmael Emein, the Yiba-Ama community applauded the efforts of Ogbuku in transforming the Niger Delta region.

He said, “The Yiba-Ama community, his maternal home, has honoured him with a chieftaincy title, Ama Tondi 1 of Tugbeni (Oruma) Land, meaning the one that lightens the community.

“Surprisingly, just after his appointment as the MD of the NDDC, solar light is now shining in almost every community.”

In His Remarks, The MD NDDC,Samuel Ogbuku,said that the new board of the Commission appointed by President Bola Tinubu is made up of highly experienced people from diverse fields, who will collectively work for the urgent development of the Niger Delta region.

Ogbuku, said that the honour done to him was an expression of appreciation by his people and a mandate for him to do more in developing the Niger Delta region.

He said the new management team in NDDC is committed to the transformation of the Niger Delta region and alleviating the years of infrastructural decay in the region.

He said: “I have been recognised as an ambassador of my people. I am happy that members of the NDDC Board are here with me because we have decided to work as a team.

“The new Board is made up of highly experienced people from diverse fields. Collectively, we will facilitate the urgent development of the Niger Delta region.

“I can assure you that this team is committed to the transformation of the Niger Delta region.”

The Chairman designate of NDDC, Chiedu Ebie, who was the chairman of the occasion, urged the Niger Delta stakeholders to forge stronger bonds and collaborate to pave the way for a brighter future for the oil-rich region.

The NDDC Chairman designate, said the event was an endorsement of the collective commitment of Niger Deltans to realising the full potential of the region.

Ebie, who was represented by the Executive Director Projects designate on the NDDC Board, Mr Victor Antai, said that the gathering was a testament to the respect and admiration people have for Ogbuku.

He said: “We are privileged to have Ogbuku as the MD/CEO of the NDDC, a position that reflects his commitment to fostering growth and prosperity in the Niger Delta.

“We celebrate Chief Ogbuku not only for his personal achievements but also for his unwavering dedication to the betterment of our region.

“Through his visionary leadership, we have witnessed tremendous strides in infrastructure development, community empowerment, and sustainable growth.” He said.

Speaking at the sideline,the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman,Ahoada East Local Government Area in Rivers State,King Salvation Ezegwogwo described Sam Ogbuku as a visionary leader that’s loved by his people.

Ezegwogwo,who commended the people for their love and for organizing such an epoch making reception in honour of the MD,said he strongly believes Sam Omgbuku will transformed the Niger Delta before the end of his tenure, henced called on them to support him.

Speaking on the forthcoming election in Bayelsa State,the chairman advised Bayelsians to be peaceful and be united, adding that from what he saw on ground he will not be surprise if the candidate of the APC emerged victorious.

His word “MD,is a wonderful guy and a good man am sure he’s s going to transform the entire Niger Delta because he’s not a tribalistic MD,his an MD for all so he’s going to do well.

“My advice to Bayelsians in the forthcoming election is that they should ensue peace and unity,let the best candidate emerge but for what am seeing APC will rule the state.Am overwhelmed with the crowd here,it also shows that the MD is doing a wonderful work for the people and he’s love by his people so let them follow him and they will never regret.
