2027 election: Hamzat Emerges Lagos APC Governorship Candidate

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for the 2027 election

Hamzat won the APC primary after polling 657,917 votes out of 657,974 votes cast, while his only challenger, Lanre Jim-Kamal, reportedly secured one vote. Another aspirant, Samuel Ajose, withdrew before the exercise.
Announcing the result at the APC secretariat in Ogba, Ikeja, the chairman of the party’s national governorship primary election committee, Jon Temlong, described the exercise as peaceful and transparent.
In his acceptance speech, Hamzat thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, members of the Governors Advisory Council, and APC leaders for their support.
He also unveiled his development agenda tagged “My Lagos Dream,” promising people-focused governance anchored on job creation, infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and improved service delivery.
