2027: Great Joshua MacIver Declares Governorship Ambition, Pledges ₦70m Monthly to Bayelsa PDP
The political atmosphere in Bayelsa State is gradually warming up ahead of the 2027 governorship election, as Great Joshua MacIver has formally declared his intention to contest the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a letter issued yesterday and addressed to the State Chairman and the State Working Committee (SWC) of the PDP, MacIver made his ambition public.
He emphasized competence, experience, commitment, transparency and the welfare of the people as his driving principles, rather than zoning.
“I firmly believe that the people of Bayelsa State deserve a leader who prioritises effectiveness, the welfare of our people, and the development of our State,” MacIver stated.
As part of his commitment to rebuilding and repositioning the PDP in the State, MacIver pledged to donate ₦70 million monthly to the party beginning from August 2026.
