Hon. Muftau Egberongbe, a member of 9th National Assembly has formally declared his ambition to contest House of Representatives seat in the forthcoming general election to represent Apapa Federal Constituency in the National Assembly under the platform of the All Progressive Congress, APC. 

The official declaration which took place at Baptist Primary School in Marine beach, Apapa Lagos State drew a large crowd of politicians and community leaders.

Speaking at the event, the former federal legislator expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, promising to deliver more democratic dividends if elected by the grace of God Almighty.

“I thank God Almighty, and I thank our leaders Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership style. What you find here is symbolic of his personality, what he has been able to do to Nigerian nation since he assumed office” he said.

Hon. Egberongbe noted that Tinubu-led federal government’s Economic reforms are of importance to overall development of the country.

On fuel subsidy removal, he commended the bold decision by Mr President noting that this has shored up our GDP which he said is making life gradually becoming normal for the people.

Hon. Egberongbe declared ” I want to be the flag bearer of All Progressive Congress ( APC) in the forthcoming general election’s to represent Apapa Federal constituency in the House of Representatives. My people believe in me and request that that I come back to the office. I am acceeding to that request”.

Egberongbe who previously represented the constituency, noted that despite political challenges that cut short his mandate, he remains committed to serving the people.

“He said “Emphasis now should be on issues of employment, training and re training of my people, making them equipped, preparing them to be mobile, employable and employability skills and so many more”.

“I am urging my people to perform their civic responsibilities, by paying their taxes.Goverments make use of the taxes collected to embark on developmental projects and programs such as Lagos-Calaba coastal road, the Badagry-Sokoto road and education loan for students among others. All these are all products of tax. 

“Crude oil is no longer fashionable, so we need to shore up our revenue base so that we can build infrastructures, so we should ensure we pay our taxes so that government as symbolises by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to more bring dividends of democracy to our people.”

Hon Egberongbe urged the electorates within and outside his constituency to vote APC all through from the states to the national levels.

On his part, a member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council ( GAC) Honorable Tunde Balogun who throwed his weight behind Hon Egberongbe candidacy described the former legislator as a committed and experienced leader,

“I welcome you all to the official declaration of our amiable Hon. Muftau Egberongbe. As I have congratulated him, I want to congratulate all the members of Apapa, Apapa-Iganmu constituency” he said.

Other respected dignitaries, political leaders. youths, artisans,women and residents of Apapa who passed vote of confidence and endorsed Egberongbe’s candidacy described the gathering as a strong show of unity and confidence in Egberongbe’s style of leadership.

They reaffirmed their belief that he remained the best candidate to represent their interest at National Assembly come 2027.

The gathering said the endorsement and support given to Hon Egberongbe is based on his track record, citing several developmental projects and empowerment programs he executed during his previous tenure.

Other stakeholders and constituents echoed similar sentiment, emphasizing the need for continuity and effective representation;

“You see, what we have seen today is all about the consciousness of the people the electorate have been are now being aware of their sovereignty, and they are ready to assert their legitimate right of choosing their own representative.

“And it’s so wonderful. You can see a lot of people here. They are people of honor and integrity, people with purpose that have come out to decide and to follow and to showcase to the world that this aspirant in the person of Honorable Muftau Egberongbe aspiring for the house of rep position representing Apapa federal constituency. He’s the one they have decided to choose to represent them.

“Event is all about flagging up of our aspirant Honorable Muftau Egberongbe. He had been there before. He was a former member Lagos State House of Assembly represented Papa Constituency for two terms. When he was in the State of assembly, he performed very well.

“He brought development to our Papa. When he went to the Federal House of Representatives, he performed very well. We have never seen a wonderful Rep like him before in the history of Apapa.

Even when Egberongbe was not given the ticket in 2023,he still fulfilled his promises and did many programs to empower many people.

“So Egberongbe is a person that you can be confident to representing us. He’s Democrat.

” All the leaders in Apapa and Apapa- Iganmu want Egberongbe to represent them for surprise jobs he did,

“They want him based on his track record of delivering dividends of democracy. And we all know, when he was the member representing Papa federal constituency, he delivered and as a result of that, when he was denied the return ticket, everybody in Apapa federal constituency felt bad, but he felt this is another opportunity to install him back to power in order to continue his service delivery record In Apapa federal constituency”.
