APC leaders reaffirm support for Tinubu, set to celebrate governance milestones

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) remain firmly behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration despite sustained criticism from opposition parties, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has said.

He made this known while addressing journalists after a closed-door meeting with progressive governors and ministers held in Abuja on Wednesday.

Mr Uzodimma, who chairs the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), said that although the opposition has been vocally critical, President Tinubu is making significant strides through reform-driven governance.

“At the beginning of this administration, opposition voices were very loud in criticising the government’s reform policies.

“But today, the President is being vindicated,” Mr Uzodimma declared.

He noted that global institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have begun to acknowledge and commend President Tinubu’s bold reforms and the overall direction of his governance.

Speaking on the meeting’s composition, the governor emphasised that the APC operates a partisan democratic system where electoral victories are attained through party structures.

“This government was produced by all progressive governors. Everyone here today is a member of the APC, regardless of their official designation.

“We’ve come together to congratulate ourselves and the country on recent developments,” Mr Uzodimma stated.

He added that discussions also focused on strategies to support dedicated APC members and Nigerians who have remained steadfast despite various challenges.

Mr Uzodimma stressed that the forum is committed to finding better ways for the APC to serve the nation.

“We have a duty to support this courageous leader, who is dedicated to Nigeria’s advancement,” the governor added.

On the forthcoming second anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration, Mr Uzodimma said the party is ready to celebrate its milestones and reflect on the road ahead.

“The APC National Working Committee will soon unveil programmes and activities for the anniversary, which will feature full party participation,” he announced.

Also speaking was the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who described the gathering as a closed-door, internal meeting of party stakeholders.

“This was a family meeting of APC governors, ministers, and National Working Committee members,” Mr Idris explained.

He said the session was an opportunity to review the administration’s performance as it approaches its midterm milestone.

“We are satisfied with what has been achieved so far. There’s a lot to showcase,” he said.

Mr Idris also mentioned that the party would intensify public enlightenment efforts to highlight the government’s accomplishments ahead of the midterm.

He further revealed that the administration intends to gather feedback from citizens as part of efforts to enhance governance and delivery.

He underscored the importance of unity within the APC, saying such meetings are crucial for introspection and forward planning.

“Our collective goal is to ensure that Nigeria attains the prosperity President Tinubu promised upon assuming office,” he stated.

“Despite the challenges, we believe we are on the right track.

“With God’s help, Nigeria will succeed,” Mr Idris concluded.
