Fire erupts at Lagos Airport Terminal 2, as FAAN confirms no casualties

A fire broke out on Sunday at Terminal 2 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, triggering a swift emergency response by aviation authorities.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) confirmed the incident in a statement, saying its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was immediately deployed to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading.

According to the authority, emergency responders were actively battling the fire while taking measures to safeguard passengers, airport personnel and critical infrastructure within the terminal.

FAAN assured the public that no deaths or injuries had been recorded as of the time of the statement, adding that the situation was under close monitoring.

> “The FAAN Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service is currently responding to the incident and working diligently to contain the situation,” the agency said.

Although the cause of the fire had yet to be determined, FAAN said efforts were ongoing to bring the incident under full control and assess the extent of any damage.

The authority added that further updates would be provided as emergency operations continue and investigations progress.

The Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Nigeria’s busiest aviation gateway, serves thousands of domestic and international passengers daily.
