Holds Transparency Briefing For August And September 2025.
The Bayelsa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and good governance in the utilization of the state’s resources.
The Commissioner for Information Orientation and Strategy Hon ( Mrs) Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai disclosed this while addressing the Press during the monthly transparency briefing for the months of August and September 2025, held at the Conference Hall of the Treasury Building in Yenagoa.
Hon (Mrs) Ebiuwou emphasized that the Diri-led administration places a high premium on transparency and accountability in the management of public funds.
“As a government, we believe that accountability is key and that transparency is essential in building trust and ensuring that our citizens are well-informed about how public resources are utilized,” she stated.
The Commissioner further noted that His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, remains resolute in his commitment to completing all ongoing projects across the state, aimed at improving infrastructure, boosting economic development, and enhancing the welfare of Bayelsans.
“Our administration will continue to uphold the principles of transparency and ensure that Bayelsans are always carried along in the governance process,” she added.
Some of the ongoing projects highlighted the Commissioner include, the Igbogene–AIT Ring Road, Glory Drive, Yenagoa–Oporoma Road, Ekeremor–Agge Road, Ogboibiri–Toru Orua Road, and Polaku–Sabagria Road, among others.
She also disclosed that government is advancing work on the nine-storey State Secretariat Complex and the FIFA-standard stadium, while expanding opportunities across key sectors such as education, the civil service, and healthcare.
On why the salaries of political appointees jumped to over 1Billion naira, Timinipre Seipolu, Technical Adviser to Governor Douye Diri on Treasury and Account, who read out the income and expenditures for both August and September said that no political appointee is on a salary, adding that appointments are done based on demands.
Seipolu maintained that Bayelsa political appointees are paid monthly based on the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission Policy.
He said:” When people are appointed, they are paid salaries based on RAMFAC policy, so we are still where we are in terms of salary, but it is the number of politicians that probably increased because some boards were inaugurated recently
Seipolu disclosed that the state closed with N106.5 billion for the month of August, while it closed with N150.5 billion for the month of September 2025.
