Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect falsely presented himself as having the authority and capacity to facilitate employment placements in various primary and secondary schools purportedly approved by the Kebbi State Government.

Acting on these false claims and in good faith, the victims, including Shafa’atu, Yusuf Yahaya (alias Baban Zaria), Hussai Sani, Ubaida Abubakar, and others, were allegedly induced to pay ₦30,000 each as “processing fees.”

Further findings showed that the suspect fraudulently obtained a total sum of ₦5.2 million from the victims through deliberate misrepresentation, as no such employment opportunities existed.

Police also confirmed that the suspect was not authorised by any government agency to recruit or process employment on its behalf.

The suspect is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing with a view to charging him to court upon conclusion of the investigation.

The Kebbi State Police Command has warned members of the public to remain vigilant and cautious of individuals who prey on the desperation of job seekers through fraudulent employment schemes.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led policing, assuring that it will continue to identify, arrest and prosecute offenders in accordance with the law.
