As Muslims begin the observance of Ramadan, the Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, Ekiti State, has called on the faithful to embrace the season as a time for renewal, prayer and acts of charity.
In a press statement issued by its Chairman, Alhaji Salman Adedipe, and made available through Fatima Bello, the Board urged Islamic faithful to seize the spiritual opportunity presented by the season for soul purification and renewed devotion.

The statement read: āAs this sacred period of spiritual reflection, fasting and devotion begins, the Board encourages every Muslim to embrace the immense blessings and opportunities it offers for deepening faith, purifying the soul and seeking closeness to Allah.
“We pray that Allah accepts all acts of worship and grants ease throughout this blessed month.ā
Emphasising the importance of maximising the gains of Ramadan, the Board noted: āBeyond abstaining from food and drink, this month calls for increased charity, recitation of the Holy Qurāan, sincere supplications and the strengthening of communal bonds.
Muslims are urged to engage in sincere introspection, forgive one another and strive for personal and spiritual growth, embodying the true essence of compassion, generosity and peace which Ramadan represents.
āFurthermore, the Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board appeals to all adherents of Islam in Ekiti State to use this auspicious month to offer fervent prayers for the continued peace, progress and stability of our beloved state.
“We particularly enjoin them to pray for the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji for divine guidance, wisdom and strength in steering the affairs of the state.

The Board Chairman also expresses sincere appreciation to the Governor for his unwavering commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence among all residents, irrespective of religious affiliation.ā
