BYSHA Screens And Confirms Hon. DR. Akpe As Deputy Governor.

The Bayelsa State House Of Assembly has screened/confirmed Hon. Dr. Peter Peretubo Akpe as Deputy Governor, and Mrs Joanna Gigi as Commissioner designate for Women, Children Affairs, Empowerment and Social Development.

Shortly after the screening session, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon Abraham Ingoboere advised Hon. Dr. Akpe to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new assignment, be a team player and never micro-manage those he would work with, leave legacies that would be emulated and add value to the system and state.

Mr. Akpe currently serves as the Chief of Staff to the Governor and he is from Ebedebiri Federated Community in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

Similarly, the Deputy Speaker Hon. Chief Micheal Ogbere representing Ekeremor Constituency III, advised him to be totally loyal and committed to his boss and not relent to handle issues brought before him in order to achieve set goals.

The Leader of the House Rt. Hon. Monday Bubou-Edwin Obolo urged the nominee to rise up to his new level of responsibility, work harder and closely with the Governor to move Bayelsa State forward.

In another development, the House has taken First Reading of Bayelsa State Development and Investment Corporation (Repeal) Bill, 2026.
