ALABI COMMENDS ODHA OVER PASSAGE OF AMENDED STATE ELECTRIC POWER SECTOR LAW (2020) BILL

The Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. (Dr.) Johnson Alabi, has commended the Ondo State House of Assembly (ODHA) leadership led by the Hon. Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji for the successful passage of the bill amending the Ondo State Electric Power Sector Law, 2020.

Speaking with newsmen after the hearing, Engr. Alabi expressed appreciation to the lawmakers, describing their decisive action as highly commendable.

He noted that the amendment would accelerate efforts to enhance regulatory efficiency and strengthen electricity infrastructure across the state.

According to the Commissioner, the development is the culmination of a painstaking review process. He explained that key aspects of the existing law were carefully examined during the initial hearing, with the aim of modernizing the state’s electricity framework in line with current realities in the power sector.

Engr. Alabi expressed optimism that the amended law would be a game changer for Ondo State’s electricity sector, aligning with ongoing national reforms and evolving industry dynamics.

Earlier, the Leader of the House, Hon. (Chief) Olatunji Oshati, moved the motion for the bill’s passage, which was seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gbegudu Ololade.

In the same vein, the Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee on Transportation and Public Utilities, Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa, noted that the new law would significantly boost access to reliable and affordable electricity while also enhancing the state’s internally generated revenue.
