Acceptance and Unity Call
Accepting the mandate, Agbiki thanked party leaders and delegates for their support and described the outcome as a vote of confidence from the APC family in both LGAs.
‘The deputy governor of the state, minister of state for petroleum resources (oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and all other distinguished sons and daughters of Sagbama and Ekeremor of the APC extraction — it is with a mind full of happiness that I stand here to accept the mandate you have given me today by this massive vote,” he said.
Agbiki also acknowledged the decision to zone the ticket to Ekeremor this cycle, praising Sagbama stakeholders for their magnanimity. He called on all aspirants and party members to close ranks ahead of 2027.
“I want to place on record the magnanimity shown to Ekeremor by our brothers and sisters of Sagbama for allowing us to choose a senatorial candidate this time around. Without that, this would not be happening,” he said.
“You have given me a mandate, and I will give this mandate the best shot of our lives and ensure that APC not only wins, but wins massively with your collective support. From what I’m seeing here, if we are together the way we are today, nobody can stop us.”
Peaceful Process, Optimism for 2027
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, who witnessed the exercise in Ekeremor, described the process as peaceful and said the atmosphere reflected what to expect in the general elections.
“It’s very peaceful and you can see the celebration, the joy in everybody. And I believe that the forthcoming election will be the same thing,” Lokpobiri said.
Results from Ekeremor’s 12 wards were collated at the LGA headquarters before being moved to Sagbama for final collation with Sagbama’s 14 wards.
Abiki will now fly the APC flag for Bayelsa West Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
