Ex-Ondo SSG, Fasoranti clinches APC ticket for Central Senatorial District

Ahead of the forthcoming senatorial election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has elected former Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti as its candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District, after he secured victory in the party’s primary election conducted on May 18, 2026.

The result was announced by the Chairman of the Senatorial Primary Election Committee and Returning Officer, Engr Thomas Olufemi Awosika, who stated that the exercise was conducted in strict compliance with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
Awosika disclosed that Fasoranti polled a total of 36,652 votes to defeat other contenders in the race.
According to the official results released by the committee, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire garnered 5,733 votes, while Dr Sylvester Muyiwa Adu secured 1,245 votes.
The returning officer subsequently declared Fasoranti the winner of the primary election, affirming that he met all constitutional requirements of the APC and obtained the highest number of valid votes cast in the exercise.
He was thereafter returned as the party’s candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District ahead of the forthcoming senatorial election.
