” We have banned him from representing Ikare Muslim Community anywhere henceforth because he does not act in line with Islamic injunctions and we hereby notify the public, that we have withdrawn his membership as our representative at the Ondo state League of Imams and Alfas(LIA),” it stated.

The Ikare Muslim Community in the letter, requested the stakeholders of the league of Imams and Alfas, Ondo state to relieve Alhaji Sirajudeen Ibrahim (a.ka. Batuta) from his post as Grand Mufti of Ondo state for the sake of peace, unity and Islamic progress.

” His activities in the name of Grand Mufti should be stopped because if he is allowed to continue, he will continue to tarnish the good image of Ondo state League of Imams and Alfas in particular and Islam in general and may later destabilize the league too,” it further stated.

Reacting on the development, Alhaji Sheik Sirajudeen Ibrahim (a.k.a Batuta), said he is not aware of the development which he said might have been sponsored by the dethroned Imam and his supporters.

Ibrahim, who spoke through a telephone conversation said he was in Ilorin to attend a meeting with his Alfa with the Chief Imam who reported him.

He stated, that his Mufassir title was given to him by the Olukare and the entire Ikare people and nobody can withdraw that position from him.

His words: “There is nothing of that nature. I am in Ilorin, it is the Olukare and the entire Ikare people that appointed me the Mufassir, nobody can remove me from that position”

” It is the dethroned Imam of Ikare and his subjects that claimed to be the Ikare Community. There is nothing like that”

“They only want to tarnish their names, the Imam of Ikare reported me to my Alfa at Ilorin which brought me to Ilorin for a meeting, even the Chairman of the Muslim Council is here. Call the Olukare for confirmation , my removal is a purported lie,” Ibrahim said.
