The Wife of the former Governor of Bayelsa State and the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and the APC Governorship candidate for the Bayelsa State November 11 Election, Mrs.Alayingi Sylva has commissioned the Bayelsa State APC Women Campaign Council Secretariat situated along Isaac Boro Express way Kpansia, Yenagoa.
In her remarks while cutting the tape to officially declare the Secretariat open, Mrs. Alayingi Sylva said the provision of the Campaign Council Secretariat is a recognition of the hard work the women have done for the party over the years which she noted will provide space, strength and empowerment to spread the message of Chief Timipre Sylva to win the Governorship Election in the State.
The former Bayelsa first Lady informed women that a labourer is entitled to his/her wages and urged them to make good use of the office space to hold meetings, campaign vigorously to enable the party win the election.
She thanked the State Party Chairman, Chief Dr. Dennis Otiotio Odoni for recognizing the efforts made by the women to reposition the party and urged them to redouble efforts while promising that women will be adequately rewarded when Sylva is elected into office.
On her part, Deputy Chairman of the Campaign Council, who is the Wife of the Deputy Governorship Candidate, Mrs.Sarah Joshua Maciver enjoined the women to make maximum use of the Secretariat, come together in love, unity and encouraged them to support Chief Timipre Sylva Gubernatorial ambition.
Also speaking, the Director General of the campaign council, Barr.Julie Donli Okar, OON said the Secretariat contains 16 office space, which will enable women to plan, network, strategize and work for the party to win the election. .
She thanked Mrs. Alayingi Sylva for inaugurating the Secretariat and commended the women for their commitment in supporting the party over the years.
In their separate speeches, the APC State Women Leader, Mrs.Ebiere Akpobosa and the South South Zonal Women Leader, Hon.Mrs. Cythia Asamaowei Princewill urged the women to galvanize grassroots support to deliver Chief Timipre Sylva as the next Governor of Bayelsa State and thanked the well meaning individual that donated the building for the party.
In his remarks, the state APC Chairman, Barr. Dr.Dennis Otiotio stated that the Secretariat is a way of thanking the women for their hard work and create the enabling environment for women to hold regular meetings while emphasizing that the office will be open 24 hours.
He tasked the women to show dedication and commitment to deliver the party candidate and prove to the donor of the building that his efforts in supporting the party will not be in vain.
Also speaking was the Director General of the Patriotic for Good Governance Group,Pastor Mrs, Mercy Dan who thanked everyone who made it possible for the women wing of APC in the state to have a voice and a part to play in the party unlike in the past that use to be men affairs.
She added that with this fit come November 11 after Chief Timipre Sylva must have been sworn into office women will be fully recognized while assuring women to be resolute for their support for the APC candidate.
She said that the APC candidate have all it takes to govern the state going by his track records, stressing that unlike the Douye Diri government that has impoverished the people of the state.
Her words”APC have all it takes to win this election because it’s very glaring that the government on sit now is a government that has disappointed the people, there’s starvation, poverty, whatever that’s bad you can think of is associated with this government and the people are tired and sick of this government so we need a new person which is our principal Chief Timipre Sylva
He’s a tested man because he was there before and development was on a daily basis in this state,so we know when he comes back definitely things will taken a new turn,the youths will smile again,the women will be able to go to market,we are hoping and believing it will happen.”
The wife of the current minister of State for Petroleum Resources(Oil) Mrs.Susan Waibodei Lokpobiri was among dignitaries present at the occasion.
