Adeleke, Oyetola mourn renowned Journalist, Taiwo Kekereekun

The Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has mourned the passing of renowned journalist, Miss Taiwo Kekereekun, describing her loss as devastating and painful.

The Governor acknowledged Miss Kekereekun’s contributions to enriching the field of journalism, particularly the broadcast segment, where she enlightened audiences and imparted truthful information.

He commiserated with the management of Fresh FM Osogbo, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), and the immediate family of Miss Kekereekun on her demise, saying that Miss Kekereekun was one of the brightest voices on radio in the state.

While noting her dedication to the tenets of journalism, Governor Adeleke said the exit of Miss Kekereekun will be hugely felt by her large audience, who had come to value her insightful and informative views on topical issues.

“My condolences to the management of Fresh FM, Osogbo, and the NAWOJ in Osun on the loss of one of their own, Miss Taiwo Kekereekun. Miss Kekereekun was a highly principled and committed journalist who prioritized truth and balanced positions in her presentations,” the Governor’s condolence message reads in part.

“Her demise is a huge loss and I join in mourning her,” adding that “As much as we grieve her passage, may I enjoin her immediate family and loved ones to take solace in the fact that although her time here was short, she made such an impact that the society will feel the vacuum of her demise.

“May God Almighty be pleased with her soul and grant her eternal rest, and it is my fervent hope that everyone touched by Miss Kekereekun’s demise finds comfort in the fact of a life of many she impacted.”

Also, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola CON, has sympathized with the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Osun State chapter, over the sudden demise of one of their colleagues, the late Taiwo Kekere-Ekun.

The late journalist was the presenter of the popular children’s programmme tagged ‘Kerere Akin’ on Fresh FM, Osogbo.

Oyetola said the news of the broadcaster’s death came as a rude shock, urging her colleagues to take solace in the fact that their late colleague lived well while on earth.

Kekere-Ekun passed on in the early hours of today after a brief illness. Until her death, she was an employee of Fresh FM, Osogbo.

Oyetola, in a press statement by his media aide, Ismail Omipidan, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the deceased’s family and the Fresh FM family as well.

“The news of her death came to me as a rude shock. Truly, death is inevitable, but I want us to take solace in the fact that she lived well. At this trying time, I pray God grants you all the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

” I also pray that God grants her soul eternal rest,” Oyetola said.

However, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Osun State Chapter, has declared three days of mourning for the departed broadcaster.
