AGOJEJU-ODOH KILLINGS: SSA ASSURES RESIDENTS OF PRESIDENT TINUBU’S COMMITMENT TO PROTECTION OF LIVES AND PROPERTIES OF NIGERIANS
In the wake of the recent farmer-herder conflicts that plagued Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, where tens of innocent persons of Agojeju-Odoh Community were reportedly killed by Fulani herdsmen in an unprovoked attack, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Community Engagement, North Central Zone, Hon. Abiodun Essiet, on a visit to commiserate with the people of the affected area over the unfortunate incident, assures the residents of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the protection of lives and properties of Nigerians.

Hon. Essiet who emphasized the need for peace and tolerance, also counseled that harmonious coexistence amongst Nigerians remains an important tool and pillar for national development as it can make or mar any society.

In a bid to cushion the humanitarian crisis occasioned by the invasion and killings where thousands of persons were displaced, the SSA also donated 80 bags of rice to the victims of the conflict and pledged the continuous support of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerian citizens.

“These bags of Rice are part of the palliatives from Mr President and delivered through my office as the SSA to the President on Community Engagement, North Central zone to assist victims of conflict in Omala Local Government Area,” she said.

Esseit further assured the community of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitments to protect lives and properties of all Nigerians, and his resolve to engage Nigerian citizens at the grassroots, for all-inclusive governance towards national development and cconomic prosperity.

Responding on behalf of the community, the traditional ruler, Onu Abejukolo/District Head, Alhaji Sule Abimaje, appreciated the federal and state governments for their supports and appealed for the establishment of military base in the area, to help reduce the problem of insecurity in the local government to the bearest minimum, lamenting that the people of Omala Local Government Area has witnessed series of attacks from marauding herdsmen within a short space of time.

The converner of the Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Omala Local Government Area, Comrade Maji Shehu, profoundly appreciated the SSA, Hon. Abiodun Essiet, for the federal government’s kind gestures and concern towards the displaced persons in Agojeju-Odoh Community, and the entire people of Omala local Government Area in general.
