Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Council, Rivers State, Barr. Ben Eke, has called on the people to remain calm as government would ensure that the killers of five person’s at Odiemenyi community would face the wrath of the law.
In a press statement issued on Monday, 13th of November 2023, the chairman called on the perpetrators to desist from causing more sorrow and pains on innocent citizens and follow the path of peace.
While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies to maintain peace in the area, Barr Eke urged them to put more effort in intelligence gathering with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.
The press release reads: “I want to use this opportunity to call on the perpetrators of this
dastardly act to desist forthwith, as government will not fold its arm and watch hapless citizens murdered in their homes. Life is irreparable and no one is permitted to take the life of another.
“As a government, we urge all to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands as government will use everything within its powers to ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly acts will face justice.
“I also call on security agencies to improve their security architecture in intelligence gathering, securing lives and property and also fish out the killers of our people. The forces of good will surely overcome that of evil.”
He commiserated with the bereaved families and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
It will be recalled that unknown gun men killed five persons in Odiemerenyi community in the early hours of Sunday morning.
