In a solemn and heartfelt moment, Honourable Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa was yesterday sworn in as the Governor of Ondo State following the untimely passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

He was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olusegun Odusola.

Expressing deep condolence during the ceremony, the new Governor expressed commitment to uphold his predecessor’s legacy.

Aiyedatiwa said “with a heavy heart, and profound shock l extend my heartfelt condolence to Governor Akeredolu’s family, the people of Owo, and the entire Ondo State.”

Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with the late governor, Aiyedatiwa reminisces about their shared journey in politics and governance, emphasizing Akeredolu’s unwavering commitment to truth and conviction, even during challenging times.

The governor commended Akeredolu’s legacy, notably the establishment of the ‘Amotekun Corps,’ a security initiative that significantly enhanced the region’s safety, reducing criminal activities.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also laudedAkeredolu’s contributions in various sectors, including health, infrastructure, education, and industrial development.

Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the historic nature of the transition of power in Ondo State and emphasized the responsibility to continue and complete the late governor’s ongoing projects.

He assured the people of Ondo State that his administration would prioritize their welfare in every decision made.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the APC National Chairman, party leaders, and the state’s elders for their support.

Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the people of Ondo State to continue their prayers for good governance.

He promised to continue late Governor Akeredolu’s legacy of good governance and development. As the state mourns the loss of a visionary leader.

Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa (born 12 January 1965) is a Nigerian businessman and politician

He served as deputy governor of Ondo State from 2021 to 2023 under Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

He Previously served as commissioner at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
