Aliyu Isah Maitasamu, Nigerian, Emerges ROO/WCA President
The president, National Onion Producers, Processors, and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NOPPMAN), Alhaji Aliyu Isah Maitasamu, has emerged the president, Regional Observatory of Onion Sector in West and Central Africa, as the association selected members into various leadership positions, yesterday.
This is marking the termination of its maiden leadership since creation, which lasted for one tenure.
The appointment was part of programmes highlighted at the 6th International Onion Conference, hosted by NOPPMAN on 15th and 16th October, at the International Conference Centre, Kasarawa, Sokoto State, Nigeria.
The new executives of ROO/WCA were spread among West and Central African countries, most especially those who ranked high in onion business and production.
Those who were nominated for various leadership position are:
Alhaji Aliyu Isah Maitasamu from Nigeria as president, ROO/WCA; Alhadji Moussa Nouhou from Niger as VP I; M. Boubacar Gana Ali from Cameroon as VP II; Alhadji Moussa Maraye from Ghana as secretary general; Boubacar Sall from Senegal as deputy secretary general, QS Habou Abdoulaye from Niger Republic; Alhadji Adamu Massaoudou from Cote D’Ivoire as financial secretary; Alhaji Tassiou M. from Ghana as deputy financial secretary.
QS Habou Abdoulaye from Niger was appointed to be in charge of Infrastructure; Alhadji Massaoudou from Ghana as deputy secretary, Infrastructure; Alhadji Massaoudou Ibrahim from Niger Republic as executive secretary; while organizing secretary went to Alhaji Aminu Danwarai from Nigeria; and Madame Sina Diang from Senegal was made the advertising secretary.
Alhadji Shehu Maidabo from Nigeria, Alhadji Abdoul-Aziz from Niger and M. Ibrahim Atiiga hold the offices of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Wise respectively, while Alhadji Ousseini Atiiga from Ghana became the first Auditor of the Union.
The positions of deputy organizing secretary, and second and third Auditors went to Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo, respectively, although their representatives were not present at the event.
In his remark, the new president, ROO/WCA, Alhaji Aliyu Isah Maitasamu, appreciated all members for their time spent and usual contributions at the conference.
He called on all members appointed into different leadership positions to be honest and God-fearing, and be good examples for others to emulate.
He added that his door is always opened for any corrections, observations, or suggestions from all members.
He urged them to join hands together to move their business to the desired greater height.
The outgoing president, ROO/WCA, who is also a Knight of the Order of Agricultural Merit of Niger, Alhadji Mustapha Kadiri (Sarkin Abzin) wished the new members of the cabinet all the best throughout their tenure, and prayed for their success in all the moves they make for the betterment of the association and its members.
He further urged them not to take or act on any decision without first consulting members and colleagues, to avoid any hitch.
