American/Israeli Relationship is the epitome of the tail wagging the dog based on the arrogance of Natanyahu and his Likud Coalition Government.
Natanyahu and his Likud Conservatives would appear to care more about the survival of the tiny State of Israel than they do about the survival and Sovereignty of the United States the senior partner in the relationship without whose leadership Israel or the Zionist Regime as we know them today would have been a total mirage and a creation of the Bible
and nothing more, if you see what I see.
The proposition becomes the proverbial argument the Egg and the Chicken and which one comes first.
Left to Netanyahu the arrogant Israeli Prime Minister and his Likud Party, the American Government must always defer and act like the junior partner to Israel even when that could predictably mean the kiss of Death for the United States which ought to be the one calling the shots because she is the one paying the Piper.
We can also describe the relationship of the United States and Israeli as that of the Dog wagging its tail but Natanyahu and his Likud Party would want the relationship to be that of the tail wagging the Dog which is totally absurd, if the truth be told.
With the possible exception of the United Kingdom which was once the colonial master of the United States which gave independence to America on July 4, 1776, I cannot think of any other country on Earth which has enjoyed the preferential treatment and the most favored nation status with America as the tiny State of Israel.
Israel could never have existed but for the almost unilateral support of the United States without whose support Adolf Hitler who had perpetrated the Holocaust in which no less than 6 million Jews were sent to the Gas Chambers would very easily have wiped the Jews out of the Surface of the Earth.
The decision to create a Home Land for the Jews out of Palestine in 1948 could never have seen the light of day without the support of the United States.
America did not just lead the Allied Forces to defeat Hitler, America also made sure that Adolf Hitler would not survive to tell the story.
Adolf Hitler knew what awaited him, if he were captured alive, He therefore took his own life but nobody knew, till tomorrow, where and how he died and where his body was buried.
You can therefore say that the enemy of your enemy is your friend. America has remained the enemy of the enemy of Israel and therefore the best and the most dependable and trustworthy friend of the tiny State of Israel in that context. But more often than not, arrogant Natanyahu unlike all of his predecessors namely Prime Ministers Rubin, Menahem Begin and Golda Meir always behaves as if America is his underdog or errand boy who must always defer to him.
America has always provided a second home for the Jews where they can live in security and peace of mind.
To demonstrate that awareness there was a point in Israeli History when more than 6 million Jews had lived in America while only 3 million Jews had lived back home in Israel where they were surrounded by no less than 150 million hostile Arab Neighbors led by Egyptians under President Gamel Abdel Nasser.
Egypt had become the most militarily powerful Arab Nation in the Middle East.
It was the same America under President Jimmy Carter who had risked his entire Presidency to negotiate the Camp David Accord which had maintained Peace between the Arabs and the Israelis for 35 years without a break.
President Carter and President Anwar Sadat of Egypt and Israeli Prime Minister Menahem Begin had collaborated to secure that peace and tranquility between the two most powerful nations in the volatile region..
The three of them were all rewarded with a Nobel Peace Award at Oslo, Norway
America did not just do that. She also found a way to isolate Saudi Arabia which used to be the main financier of all the Arab wars against Israel including the Six Days War which had finally persuaded Egypt to sue for peace following the death of the great Gamel Abdel Nasser who took his own life after losing that War.
It was the same America led by President Clinton that had tried to negotiate peace between Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and the Israeli Prime Minister Mubarak.
Same America has always tried to restrain or put a check on Iran, Iraq and Turkey from joining the Arab Coalition to threaten, torment and to defeat Israel.
I went into all of these details as a Historian to show that Israeli could never have survived as a sovereign nation in the Middle East but for the constant support of America.
I guess my question is why would the tiny State of Israeli not show some level of gratitude and respect to America for all the financial and military support America has always given to Israel in all of their wars and tribulations with her Arab neighbors since 1948 and up till now.
Israel has to rely heavily on subventions and weapons from America in their bloody encounter with Hamas in both North and South Gaza and in the West Bank and the Golan Heights as we speak.
Israel would have been in a whole lot of trouble, if America were to turn their backs on Israel.
Why must Israel always dictate what the United States must do or not do
It is a legitimate question to ask and America should never again be taken for granted like Natanyahu is doing.
It is time for Israeli to consider America and her ultimate interest and not the other way round for once?
Why not, if not is the one million Dollar question the Israelis must answer, if the push comes to shove.
Israel must defer to America in deference to all of these historical facts which cannot and should not be dismissed with the wave of the hand or just swept under the rug.
In recognition of this fact, Israel is often described as America in the Middle East and rightly so.
The tiny State of Israel ought to demonstrate that awareness and sense of gratitude to America much more forcefully than the Natanyahu Government has been doing.
A coalition of Arab Immigrant voters in America today in South Carolina are unhappy with the Biden Administration that he has shown more favoritism and given more support to Israel than he has given to the Palestinians but I must remind those Arab Americans that the favoritism shown by America would have been more pronounced and more draconian under a Republican Administration..
President Biden has been a more restrained and a more level- headed President who has tried as much as humanly possible to curb the excesses of Natanyahu behind closed doors and to minimize the carnage to the Palestinians, as we speak.
That would have been my humble plea to the Israelis going forward.
The Democrats have been more fair and considerate to the Palestinians than the Republicans could ever have been going by their track record since the creation of the tiny state of Israel in 1948 as documented in this analysis.
I rest my case.
