ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION CLEARS MINISTRY OF ENERGY, CERTIFIES IT CRA QUALIFIED.
The Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. (Dr.) Johnson Alabi, has commended the Ondo State Public Complaints, Financial Crimes and Anti-Corruption Commission (SPFACC) for successfully completing the Corruption Risk Assessment (CRA) programme aimed at strengthening accountability within the Ministry. He emphasized that transparency and accountability remain essential pillars for national development.
The Commissioner gave the commendation during a meeting organized by officials of the Commission for the presentation of the CRA report, following the successful completion of the assessment exercise launched last month.
While receiving the certificate, Engr. Alabi expressed appreciation for the Commission’s professionalism, stating:
“On behalf of the Ministry, we are proud of your work. This certificate is a testament to a job well done. We stand for a corruption-free society and will continue to promote transparency, as we have nothing to hide.”
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to executing government responsibilities with integrity, noting that the success of any government is anchored on accountability. He also encouraged other Ministries to participate in the exercise to collectively build a more prosperous future.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission, Rtd. Justice Williams Akintoroye, highlighted that the CRA initiative aligns with the Commission’s reform agenda launched recently.
He called for increased support and empowerment for the Commission to effectively tackle corruption across all sectors.
The Commission’s Chairman cited examples of countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Rwanda, which have made significant progress in combating corruption, stressing that Nigeria should not be left behind.
“We appreciate Engr. Alabi for granting us access to commence this exercise with the Ministry. With the right political will, Ondo State can achieve similar success,” he said, urging that the report be thoroughly reviewed and implemented.
The Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Adeyeye Adewole, also commended the Ministry’s leadership, consultants, and staff for their cooperation in ensuring the success of the assessment.
He noted that the certification qualifies the Ministry as CRA-compliant for a two-year period, from 2026 to 2028.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Olabode Yusuf, appreciated the Commission’s efforts and assured that the report would be carefully reviewed, with appropriate measures implemented to further strengthen the Ministry’s operations.
The event concluded with the official presentation of the CRA report and certificate, followed by a group photograph session.
