BAYELSA: ENGR Seigha Gumus Steps In As NIMECHE New Chairman, Promises Growth And Development For Engineers. By Chris Mark

Engr Seigha Gumus has been inaugurated as the 4th chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers, NIMECHE, Yenagoa Chapter, promised to work for the betterment of Engineers in the State.

In an investiture in his honour, on Monday 5th of March 2024, Engr Seigha Gumus was inaugurated alongside 2024 Executive Members at the NSE/COREN Secretariat, Yenagoa.

While delivering his inaugural speech, Engr Seigha Gumus identified lack of professional development and growth of engineers has barrier’s to the development of engineers in the state, hence promised to tackle it immediately.

He also noted that mechanical engineers which is the bedrock of engineers has not been in his rightful place in recent times, saying as he steps in as the chairman he will not relent until the body takes its rightful position. adding that collaborative efforts has been made to partner with relevant stakeholders to achieve their aims.

His words ” We are focusing on professional development and the growth of engineers in Bayelsa, so we intend to collaborate with stakeholders, accedemia, companies and state government, so we want to see how our students will do well and for mechanical engineers to come first”

According to the newly inaugurated chairman, sixteen million naira has been budgeted to fund the programs for the year, while calling on support from members so as to achieve his lofty agenda.

Gumus, who’s passionate in getting things done, also stated that encouraging secondary school students in choosing engineering as a career is part of the institution objective for the year as well as training programs such as safety maintenance program amongst others.

He said ”We hope to liase with industries and accedemia in the state and neighbouring states to ensure our students are encouraged and rightly placed during their industrial training scheme.”

Earlier in his remark, the outgone chairman, Engr Jeptah Ayebakuro had commended NIMECHE members for giving him the opportunity to have served also appreciated them for their demonstration of love for the organization.

According to Ayebakuro, it will be remarkable that transfer of leadership was made possible which he said sometimes it’s a bane to society and world at large but for NIMECHE transmission process has always been seamless.
