The Bayelsa State Polytechnic, Aleibiri, has ushered in a new era of leadership following the formal handover of office from the outgoing Rector, Dr. Wisdom Clinton Soreh, to Dr. Mrs. Eremasi Yaguo Ikele, the former Deputy Rector (Administration), who now assumes office as the Acting Rector.

The transition, which took place on Tuesday, June 24, 2026, marks the end of Dr. Sorehās tenure and the beginning of a new chapter for the institution. Dr. Soreh, who served the Polytechnic for several years, was commended for his ādedicated and impactful serviceā and for leaving āpermanent printsā in the institutionās history.
This was contained in a statement issued by Sarah Alamene, Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Polytechnic, Aleibiri, for the Governing Council, Management Staff, and Students.
Dr. Mrs. Yaguo becomes the first female to head the Polytechnic in an acting capacity. Before her elevation, she served as Deputy Rector (Administration), a role that positioned her with extensive experience in the institutionās governance.
The statement expressed confidence in Dr. Yaguoās capacity, experience, and leadership qualities to steer the school toward greater heights in academic excellence, innovation, and development.
āThe institution prays the Almighty God to grant her wisdom, strength, vision, and grace required to advance the ideals of the Polytechnic,ā the statement added.
The community also paid tribute to the outgoing Rector, acknowledging his āvision, determination, and hard workā which, it noted, brought āremarkable achievements and growthā to the Polytechnic.
