BURGLARS RAID HOME OF THE LIGHT PUBLISHER, CART AWAY MILLIONS IN VALUABLES

The residence of Elder Ebi Andy Ozegbe, Publisher of The Light Newspapers has been burgled by unidentified thiefs who broke in through the ceiling and stole items worth millions of naira.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Ozegbe’s home along Punch Road, off Imgbi Road, Amarata, Yenagoa, while the journalist was away for his duties
Speaking to newsmen, Elder Ozegbe, popularly called the Jagaban of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bayelsa State Council and founder of The Light Chapel, said the thiefs gained entry through the ceiling and ransacked the house.
The veteran Journalist, said the miscreants made away with:N250,000 cash meant for publication, ATM cards, laptops, plasma TV , Standing and ceiling fans, clothes, and other valuables
He said the total loss runs into millions of naira.
Ozegbe noted that he has been attacked by robbers before. He urged the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to increase patrols in the Amarata area to forestall further incidents.
The publisher, who is also Managing Director/CEO of Delight Journalists Hangout on Punch Road, said the attack has left him “devastated” and unsure where to start from.
He appealed to Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Pastor Peter Pereotubo Akpe, lawmakers, commissioners, LG chairmen, political appointees, party leaders, businessmen, and other well-meaning Bayelsans for support to “pick up the pieces.”
He, however, thanked God for sparing his life and family .
