The town of Dakwa in the Bwari Area Council of the FCT, Abuja was recently roused from her slumber when dignitaries from far and near gathered to celebrate the elevation of the village head of Dakwa— Alh. Dr. Alhassan Musa Babachikuri, to the enviable position of Hakimi.
Starting by midday on 29th March, 2026, at the LEA Agwan Fulani Primary School in Dakwa, dignitaries, visitors and the people of Dakwa left no one in doubt that the new Hakimi is highly loved.
Some of these dignitaries who were either physically present or sent representatives include: the Sarkin Bwari — HRH Alh. Awwal Musa Ijakoro 11; the Esu Bwari, His Highness Ibrahim Yaro JP; the chairman of the Area Council— Hon. John Gabaya; Hon. Adamu Dakwa, councilor-elect of Dakwa; Hon. Samaila Oseni, the executive chairman of Zorbe LGA of Zamfara State; Abdul A. Senior, who was installed as the Sarkin Samarin Dakwa along with Alh. Sabo Isa Yola and some others; Musa Hashimu from Yola, leaders from the political and traditional class, etc.
Traditional dancers from different groups, took turns to entertain guests while colourfully dressed traditional horsemen honoured the Hakimi with their presence.
In their different speeches at the event, the dignitaries who spoke such as the Sarkin Bwari eulogized the virtues they discovered in the new Hakimi and urged him to continue leading the people with the fear of Almighty Allah while asking the people to cooperate with him at all times.
Hon. Samaila Oseni who later spoke to newsmen, said he had a good relationship with Alh. Babachikuri and described the ceremony as a marvelous one.
“Alh. Babachikuri deserves what he is getting as he has been upright from his childhood,” he said and asked him to carry everyone along irrespective of ethnicity, tribe or religion as he is now the father of all.
He also advised the people to respect and pray for him so he can continue to move Dakwa forward.
Musa Hashimu spoke in similar light and said he was a childhood friend of one of those turbaned by the Hakimi in the person of Alh. Sabo Isa Yola who was turbaned as the Talba Dakwa.
He described both of them as men of the people who were given to generosity and prayed Almighty Allah to continue to guide and protect them.
The secretary of the palace or Sarkin Father, Alh. Yunusa Sule, said he was a very happy man and urged the people to expect justice from the palace irrespective of whose ox was gored or whether they were rich or poor.
Abdullahi Farouk Dahiru read the biography of the new Hakimi. He revealed that he was born in 1967 to the family of Alh. Dr. Musa Babachikuri and Mallama Fatima Barkoshi of Dakwa.
He attended primary school at Zuba between 1978 and 1983 before proceeding to the Federal Government College, Kwali. He went for further studies through Makarantan Allo under the late Chief Imam of Suleja, Sheik Isah Toto between 1987 and 1990. He also obtained a Diploma in the practice of traditional medicine and he is the current president of the body of traditional herbal medicine from 1996 to date.
He ascended the throne after the demise of the last king in 2008.
He was turbaned as the Wakilin Yamman Bwari by the Sarkin Bwari on 26th January, 2026 where, due his hardwork, and positive efforts, he was promoted to Hakimi on 13th February, 2026 and was turbaned by the Esu Bwari on 28th March, 2026.
In his address to the people, Alh. Babachikuri thanked the Almighty Allah for the promotion along with the persons that made it possible. He also prayed for good health and peace for everyone and said he believes the promotion came in God’s time as he was not expecting it and God is never late.
He urged his people to expect justice from him at all times and prayed for Almighty Allah to help him.
He also called on the government to rally around the people and help them as they were suffering.
He concluded by urging all and sundry to leave everything that concerns 2027 elections in God’s hands.
“He is the one to control everything.Whoever the cap fits, should be allowed to wear it; elections should be free, fair, and credible.”
