DEMOCRACY MAY BE
Some of the conversations and essays written on the ongoing Middle East crisis are self depressing and also a personal reflections on grief suffered by the Palestinians longing for social justice. Some of us tried to explore fundamental themes that confront the Palestinian people in this unprecedented time. The contents of all narratives constitute our guide to thinking about the big questions posed by history in this most consequential austere year of denials and hope.
It has been the thinking of the Western world that there is no “Law” without the West. In my very limited exposure to both domestic as well as the international law, it is always the western thinkers that set trends in the development of jurisprudence. This is one reason for the “arrogance” of Western Nations dealings with other nation states. I said it here that any other “law” is subservient to statutory laws like a Charter or Constitution. This remains true to Shari’a vis a vis the Constitution in this country.
Former NATO Allied Supreme Commander Wesley K Clark noted in his memoirs that the US government as a VETO MEMBER OF THE UNSC had made it clear that they would intervene in 5 countries considered axis of resistance within a 5 year period. That was in “A TIME TO LEAD, for duty, honour and country” published in 2007. It was an open warning of the intention of the US, based on the powers conferred to it by UN Charter. This was left for the targeted Axis resistance “terrorists” countries to look at it in which ever way they desire. The idea was for them to come forward to justify their stand against acts they are accused of. This has been the problem we are witnessing with BH, IPOB and other insurgents and terrorists groups operating in this country. What is their grouse with our unity?
Member state of the UN like the Iran also informed through the world body of her decision to retaliate against Israel. This was enough warning to whom it may concern to be prepared of what was to come. It is the expected DECLARATION of an aggrieved party in times of CRISIS AND WAR.
In the power game, Technology has come to play a big role where Airplanes, Drones, Surface to Air, Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles, etc are deployed against enemy state. If you can project and/or cover your air space, you can do whatever you wish. It gives you the feeling of invisibility. This is what Israel has been demonstrating in her engagement with Lebanon. But, can it try that with Iran or Turkey?
Social media platforms are full of grotesque images of Palestinians victims suffering mental torment and physical abuses, with haunting video clips showing disgraceful violations of dead bodies. These images show how Israel got carried away, demonstrably telling us the very essence of the whole enterprise, the humiliation of Palestinians. Those images inform us to the reality of decades of hatred which obliges us to talk and call for peaceful settlement of disputes. The evil on Israel’s borders must be confronted and stopped.
Reading on what Eliezer Yudkowsky wrote helped inspire the seminars, calls “The Way” of rationality: “The Way is a precise Art. Do not walk to the truth, but dance.” Israel knows that the world is not trying to create “two states” solution BUT only ”ONE STATE SOLUTION”, and that state is the STATE OF PALESTINE. She must accede to this request in her BEST INTEREST FOR PEACE AND STABILITY IN THE REGION.
