Neptune Prime’s Gimba commissions Memorial School, inspects Cancer Clinic in Yobe

To honour the past and secure the future, Dr. Hassan Gimba, Publisher and CEO of Neptune Prime Newspapers, took centre stage in Potiskum, Yobe State, on Saturday, 31st August 2024.

The event marked the commissioning of the Hafsatu Gimba Ahmed Memorial School, a tribute to his late mother, located on VIO Street, Unguwar Jaji.

This isn’t just any school, it’s a beacon of progress in the community, having been quipped with a borehole, state-of-the-art classrooms complete with electricity, fans, modern toilets, and a slew of teaching tools like computers and textbooks, it stands as a testament to Gimba’s commitment to education and community development.

Continuing, Dr. Gimba, after the school’s inauguration, made his way to the Lami Fatima Babare Cancer Clinic, another project close to his heart, under construction in the same area.

Named in memory of his late wife, who succumbed to cervical cancer, this clinic is set to become a vital screening and healthcare facility for the community.

Dr. Gimba emphasised, that while cervical cancer screening is the clinic’s primary focus, it will also function as a primary healthcare centre, lending a much-needed helping hand to the Yobe State Government’s healthcare efforts.

The day wasn’t just about bricks and mortar; it was about community and continuity.

Dignitaries who graced the event, included the Shettima of Fika, Alhaji Bukar Abubakar, representing the Emir of Fika, His Royal Highness Dr. Muhammad Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrisa, and Professor M.K. Othman from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.

They were joined by Dr. Mamman Mohammed, Dr. Adamu Alhassan Umar, President of the Nigerian Cancer Society, and Iliya Joshua, Zonal Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Customs Service for Bauchi-Yobe, among others.

As if that wasn’t enough, Fatima Monja, daughter of the late veteran journalist Abubakar Monja, distributed certificates to students who completed a three-month training programme in tailoring and plumbing.

This initiative was organised by the Abubakar Monja Lifeline Foundation for the Welfare of Late Journalists’ Families, another brainchild of Dr. Gimba.

To round off the day, Dr. Gimba, surrounded by family, friends, and well-wishers, attended the wedding Fatiha of his son, Barrister Suleiman Gimba.

The ceremony took place at the residence of Mohammed Babate, behind the Water Board and Army Barracks in Potiskum.
