MPPUD GENERATES N114 MILLION IN SIX MONTHS.

Ondo State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has generated One Hundred and Fourteen Million, Five Hundred and Eleven Thousand, One Hundred and Forty Naira (#114,511,141.00) within the first half of the year 2024 representing 76% of the revenue target for the same period.

The State Commissioner for the Ministry, Hon. Gbenga Olaniyi made the disclosure while playing host to members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Lands Housing, Physical Planning and Urban Development in his office in Akure, who are in the Ministry for their oversight function.

Hon. Olaniyi noted that the Ministry was able to achieve the appreciable revenue height as a result of the commitment and dedication of its management and staff to duty despite the prevalent economic hardship in the country and the critical human and material challenges being faced by the Ministry.

He stated that Governor Orimisan Aiyedatiwa graciously approved three major capital projects for the Ministry within the short time of his assumption to office which are production of Master Plan for Akure, the state capital; regeneration of some ancient communities in Akure; and transformation of coastal Areas to attract investors to the state.

He commended the leadership of the House for maintaining cordial relationship with the Executive arm of government which is necessary for the development of democracy as well as seamless provision of dividends of democracy to the people.

In their response, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Abiola Oladapo and other members enjoined the management of the Ministry to always intimate the House and the general public with its activities to enhance their cooperation and support, while also pledging to continue to assist them to achieve more successes in the performance of their statutory duties.

They also charged the Officers of the Ministry to continue to monitor and enforce rules and regulations guiding building constructions in the state in order to avoid disaster of building collapse being experienced in other states of the country.

Earlier in his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Chief Bunmi Alade, briefed members of the Committee with the mandate, Directorates, activities and some achievements recorded by the Ministry.

Chief Alade also enumerated some critical challenges being faced by the Ministry which needed urgent attention to continue to enjoy greater physical planning and urban development of towns and cities in the state.
