N6.5m extortion lands Rivers police officers in trouble. By Ladidi-Hassan

The Rivers State Police Command has paraded four Police men for alleged extortion.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Emeka, who paraded the four Policemen attached to a neighbouring state command over alleged extortion of about three persons on Monday, September 4th in Port Harcourt, said the paraded men extorted about N6.5 Millions from three boys after tagging them internet fraudsters.

The Rivers CP advised members of the public to desist from generalizing the issue of crime committed by an officer or officers as according to him, ‘Nigeria Police, the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police never asked any officer to commit crime.’

The Rivers Police Commissioner during the press briefing stated that in a follow up to the release of a kidnapped victim (namewitheld) arrested one Henry Thomas, on August 20th 2023, and during investigation, the suspect led operatives to Akinnima community, Ahoada West where two pump action guns, 6 cartridges were recovered from the suspect.

CP Emeka further stated that in a follow up to the death of a cultist, kidnapper, arrested one Temple Woko in connection to the case at Rumuodogo.

He revealed that two suspects were fatally wounded, one AK 47 riffle, 6 magazines were recovered.

The Police Boss said on August 30th, 2023, detectives of the command received a distress call that a motorcycle has being snatched from the rider around Choba axis.

He stated that the Police quickly mobilized and tracked the Yahama motorcycle to Abuja waterfront where one Gift was arrested on August 31st.
