NYCN Celebrates Youth Day, As Youth Commissioner Charge’s Youths To Participate In Development.

As the International Youth Day was marked globally, the Commissioner for Youth Development in Bayelsa State, has charged youths in the State to participate in the development of the State so as to reap the dividends in future.

The Commissioner, stated this on Monday in Yenagoa, during this year’s International Youth Day celebration in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

The event which was put together by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Bayelsa State chapter see’s various youths body in the state present at the occasion.

The Commissioner, who commended the Comrade Kokoriko Ebikibina, led Executive for organizing a laudable event to chat a way forward for the youths, equally called on the youths to see development of the state as their own, saying that those in the helm of affairs today will not be there tomorrow as they the youths will be the once to take charge.

His words “I just want to say nobody will develop for us ‘nobody’ it’s only us that can participate in the development of this state, those in government today were not in government yesterday, that shows that most likely those that are not in government today will find their way into government, so it’s that circle.

“We need to come together, make up our mind to contribute for the development of this state, outside government and inside government , no envying, no backbiting, let’s continue to wish ourselves well before long Bayelsa will attain a greater height.

Speaking Earlier, In his remark, the Bayelsa State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Comrade Kokoriko Ebikibina, thanked the various youths organization for their participation.

Ebikibina, who acknowledged the fact that due to the hardship in the country a lot of youths are not happy, however notes that there’s hope and need for young people who had made landmark progress in the youth community to be celebrated, as well to encouraged.

While explaining on the theme of the International Youth Day; “From clicks to progress Youth Digital Pathways For Sustainable Development”. He advised the youths to take advantage of the 21st century innovation were young people can engage in entrepreneurship using innovation.

He added that ” Now young people are buying and doing business online because of the advent of internet, before there was nothing like that . Young people who are doing business can now come together showcase their products online, it also educate, gives opportunity for connectivity, networking.

“I believe going digital will sustain the young people in terms of different areas of development, it also enable young people to air their voices, it gives them sense of belongings to governance, going digital is what every young man and woman should involve themselves on.

“So I want to call on the Bayelsa State government to also invest on young people, re-orient young people on this area so that young people can benefit and utilize this opportunity of the 21st century innovation in technology”.

Speaking on the sideline, a youth leader, Dennis Ebikeme, who spoke on the macro economy of Bayelsa State as it affects the youths, said that youths in the state needs to be identified, empowered, encouraged and projected by either the government or individuals with such capacities.

According to him, a situation whereby Bayelsa youths are not found among young people with sellable products in the state or Nigeria at large is highly regrettable.

The youth leader proffer and suggested as way forward is for young people innovations to be supported in manufacturing, content creature or any other initiative.

He further stated that “we should have a united front, we should protect the interest of the Ijaw people, we should protect the interest of our people, whatever the Ijaw man is doing wether political or non political should have the Ijaw ideology.

Highpoints of the events was the presentation of awards to deserving youths, son’s and daughters of Bayelsa State who had made landmark progress in life.
