Ondo Joint Action Movement Throws Its Weight Behind Tinubu for 2027

Politics in Ondo City took a decisive turn over the weekend as the *Ondo Joint Action Movement (OJAM)*, a formidable coalition of civil society organisations and grassroots interest groups, formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced at a well-attended meeting held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, bringing together professionals, artisans, traders, entrepreneurs, and community leaders from Ondo East and Ondo West Local Government Areas. The gathering was marked by spirited deliberations, applause-filled interventions, and a clear sense that the group had reached a historic consensus.

Led by its Convener, *Hon. Chief Olabisi Johnson*, the Movement did not mince words in expressing its confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda. Chief Johnson praised the President as a bold statesman whose administration has shown the courage to confront Nigeria’s long-standing structural challenges head-on.

According to the Movement, the decision to endorse the President followed an extensive review of his performance in office, particularly in the areas of economic reform, national security, infrastructure development, and overall governance.

In a press statement issued after the meeting and signed by the Director of Media and Publicity—*Olaitan Adesina*, the group declared:

“In less than one term, the Tinubu administration has demonstrated uncommon political will in stabilising the economy, strengthening national security architecture, repositioning critical sectors, and restoring confidence in governance.”

Chief Olabisi Johnson emphasised that true leadership is often tested not by easy applause but by difficult decisions. He noted that President Tinubu has chosen the path of reform over populism, laying what he described as “a firm foundation for sustainable growth and prosperity.”

The Ondo Joint Action Movement also stressed that Nigeria’s current reform trajectory must not be disrupted. As the statement noted:

“The journey to a stronger, more secure, and economically resilient Nigeria must not be interrupted.”

Describing the endorsement as both strategic and patriotic, the group argued that continuity is essential for consolidating the gains already recorded and for deepening the process of national renewal.

As a grassroots-driven coalition with deep roots in Ondo City, OJAM positioned itself as a voice of everyday Nigerians and all those who feel the impact of policy decisions in markets, workshops, offices, and homes. The Movement called on residents of Ondo East and West, and Nigerians at large, to rally behind President Tinubu in 2027 “in the collective interest of stability, continuity, and progress.”

The statement further reaffirmed the group’s commitment to peaceful civic engagement and constructive participation in the democratic process.
