Osogbo road accidents claims 3, injures 22
Three occupants of a motorcycle traveling along the Osogbo/Gbongan road in Osun State were reportedly crushed to death in an accident last night.
The unfortunate incident resulted in the fatalities of the three passengers being conveyed by the motorcycle.
The spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the accident.
Adeleke stated that officers from the command had visited the accident scene.
“The accident involved a Toyota Camry Pencil Light and a motorcycle with the number plate AKD 810 QX.
The accident claimed the lives of three persons on the motorcycle on the spot,” he said.
Additionally, 22 people sustained varying degrees of injuries in another accident that occurred in Sekona town.
It was reported that this accident also occurred along the Osogbo-Gbongan Road.
Adeleke, providing details about the accident, said it was caused by a Toyota Hummer bus that had veered off its lane and had a head-on collision with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
“It was discovered that the Toyota Hummer bus driver fell asleep while driving.
Adult men, women, and children sustained varying degrees of injuries and fractures, while the Toyota Hummer bus driver sustained fractures in both legs,” he added.
He mentioned that three persons were involved in the Fiat van, while 19 were injured in the Toyota Hummer bus.
The victims, according to the NSCDC spokesperson, were evacuated and taken to Sekona Government Clinic for first aid and were later moved to Uniosun Teaching Hospital by government ambulance for proper medical attention,” she added.
