Otiotio, Agala, Others Eulogieses Sylva At 60, Describes Him As a Visionary Leader.
Despite his absence, members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State on Sunday thronged the party Secretariat to mark the 60th birthday of their leader and candidate of the party in the 2023 governorship election Chief Timipre Sylva.
Sylva, who was a former governor and the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum clocked 60 years old yesterday, July 7th 2024.
While addressing the mammoth crowd who were dressed on white outfits during the celebration, elated Bayelsa APC Party Chairman, Dennis Otiotio, described Chief Timipre Sylva, has a visionary leader that has been a blessing to Bayelsans and also for being instrumental to APC taking over government at the center.
Otiotio who explained that Sylva would have love to be in Bayelsa to celebrate with the party faithfuls but could not make it due to his flight schedule, however said the celebrant his watching live from where he is.
He said ” We are here to celebrate because there’s a cause to celebrate. Sylva has touch the lives of everybody here in one way or the other, and that’s why we called him our leader, because he’s the one that showed us road and we follow, he’s the one that directed us to APC and we followed him to APC and he was not wrong.
“When he came 2014 to introduce APC, people were calling him several names, but today the rejected stone because as at that time APC was like a rejected stone in Bayelsa State, nobody want to associate with APC but Sylva said he’s a political prophet that if we want Bayelsa State to click to the center we must embrace APC.
“Today so many people who were castigating APC then are trouping in, they even want to overthrow us, they want to take APC from us, but by the grace of God it will not be possible “. He said.
Otiotio, who thanked the people for voting massively for the APC in the 2023 election, said if not for the manner and way INEC cancelled 184 polling unit results in Nembe,Ogbia and Southern Ijaw APC would have been declare winner, hence the reason APC is in court.
He further appealed to the supporters to continue to pray for God’s intervention so as to validate the victory of APC and for their votes to be counted.
Also speaking was the Minority Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Member Representing Brass Constituency 2, Hon.Timi Omubo Agala, who said, Sylva, right from his young age had made an impact not only to the people of the State or Nigeria, but globally.
According to the Lawmaker when Sylva was a governor everyone felt his leadership role were the poor becomes rich because of his leadership style of ensuring development gets to everyone.
“That is not to say he was shearing money but was busy showing people the way on how to make money and comfortable in the society. A man who believes in developing humans, a humanitarian, philanthropy, politician and a leader per excellent”. He noted.
On the division of the party, the Brass born politician, Attested that Sylva remains the leader of the party, saying that there’s no division or controversy in the party.
In his words, a former Commissioner of Bayelsa State, Mr Gesiye Frank Oputu, said ” if you’re in this state for the last two decades you cannot miss the name Sylva, he has touched lives and the testimony is everywhere, Sylva is everything.
“My prayers for him is that let this be his starting point, he will grow from grace to grace, let his heart desires come to fulfilment.
