President Tinubu Unveils New National Anthem “Nigeria, We Hail Thee” at 4th Republic Silver Jubilee Celebration
President Bola Tinubu marked the Silver Jubilee of Nigeria’s 4th Republic by launching the recitation of the new National Anthem, “Nigeria, we hail thee”, before a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday.
This milestone also coincided with the first anniversary of President Tinubu’s administration, as he replaced the previous anthem “Arise, O Compatriots”, which was adopted in 1978, to “Nigeria, we hail thee” which was composed in 1960 during Nigeria’s independence.
During the unveiling ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of unity and urged all Nigerians to come together in brotherhood to build the nation.
Accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano state , amongst others. President Tinubu also announced plans to present the 2024 Supplementary bill to the National Assembly, reaffirming his commitment to the timely passage of annual budgets.
The return to the pre-1978 national anthem was officially signed into law by President Tinubu, who further inaugurated the National Assembly Library after his address.
The launch of the new National Anthem symbolizes a new chapter in Nigeria’s history, emphasizing unity and progress under President Tinubu’s leadership.
