Security alert: Oyo Govt restricts movement in 10 LGAs, imposes 16-hour curfew.

The Oyo State Government has declared a 16-hour curfew in 10 local government areas of the state.
The State Governor, Seyi Makinde approved the curfew, which takes effect from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, according to a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
The announcement was conveyed in a statement signed by the Special Adviser (Media) to the Governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on June 23, 2026.
The curfew will run daily from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and will remain in force for 48 hours in the first instance.
According to the government, the restriction affects local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park.
The affected local government areas are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba.
Oriire Local Government has its headquarters in Ikoyi-Ile, while Orelope is headquartered in Igboho. Irepo’s headquarters is in Kisi, while Saki West and Saki East have their headquarters in Saki and Ago-Amodu respectively.
Others are Atisbo Local Government, with headquarters in Tede/Ago-Are; Itesiwaju, headquartered in Otu; Iseyin, with headquarters in Iseyin; Olorunsogo, headquartered in Igbeti; and Atiba, with headquarters in Offa-Meta, Oyo.
The state government said the curfew takes immediate effect from June 24 and will initially last for 48 hours.
