Sen. Ibrahim Ida becomes Chancellor, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University
The Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua University, Katsina on Saturday 25th May, 2024, decorated the Distinguish Senator Dr. Ibrahim Ida Wazirin Katsina as the new Chancellor of the State own University on Saturday 5th May 2024
As a mark of honour, the Distinguish Senator, was conferred with a Doctorate Degree of the University (Honoris Causa).at the combined convocation ceremony.
The University awarded over ten thousand Bachelors Degrees, Post Graduate Diplomas, Masters Degrees and PhDs in various field of human Knowledge.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Salihu Muhammad disclosed this at the historic event held at the university campus in katsina.
The Vice Chancellor explained that 9,946 were awarded with Bachelors Degrees, while 922 were awarded with Post Graduate Diplomas, Masters Degrees and PhDs in various areas of Specialisation.
The University also conferred Honorary Posthumous Degrees on late Alhaji Garba Ammani Funtua and late Hajia Hassu Iro inko whom both were distinguished individuals who left indelible marks in the history of the development of Katsina state.
Also conferred with Honorary Degrees for their contributions to the state were the new Chancellor, Senator Ibrahim Ida, Alhaji Saidu Barda the First Executive Governor of Katsina State.
Saidu Barda was elected on the platform of National Republican Convention (NRC), between January 1992 and November 1993 during the Nigerian Third Republic and immediate past Governor of the State Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari.
In his remarks, the new Chancellor of the University, Senator Ibrahim Ida expressed appreciation for the honour done him and pledged three key priorities that include being committed to academic excellence, promote students success and Community engagement to uplift the university.
The occasion had in attendance various dignitaries from sister institutions, parents and families of graduating students among others.
