
Senate Adjourns Session to Honour Late Hon. Olaide Odewale Akinremi


The Nigerian Senate was filled with grief as they observed a moment of silence for the late Hon. Olaide Odewale Akinremi, a member of the House of Representatives who passed away at the age of 52 after a brief illness.
Representing the Ibadan North Federal Constituency of Oyo State under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Akinremi’s sudden demise left his colleagues in shock and sadness.

Senate Leader Sen. Opeyemi Bamidele shared the news with the Senate, stating that they received communication from the House of Representatives informing them of Akinremi’s passing. President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, led the Senate in a moment of silence to pay their respects to the late lawmaker.
In a gesture of respect and mourning, the Senate adjourned their plenary session to Thursday July 11, 2024, in memory of Hon. Akinremi. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, also expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of their colleague.
The untimely death of Hon. Akinremi has left a void in the halls of government, and his legacy will be remembered by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
