Slain Soldiers: Attack On Igbomotoru Community, IYC President Demands Probe.
The President of the Ijaw Youth Council ,IYC, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri while sympathizing with the Nigerian Army over the killing of its personnel demanded a probe on the reprisal attack carried out by the military on Igbomotoru community.
Recall that soldiers in five gunboats reportedly invaded the community, razing houses suspected to be hideout of a militant leader said to be involved in the killing of the military men who were on a rescue mission in Delta State.
Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, stated this during the week in Yenagoa, while briefing journalists on account of the Okuama crises in Delta State, that has now snowball to the attack on Igbomotoru community in Bayelsa State by military men.
According to him, the call for the demand for probe is due to the fact that he wouldn’t want an innocent person to fall prey to the antics of mischief makers who may take advantage of the situation to undo others.
Lokpobiri, wondered why the people of Igbomotoru community in Bayelsa State now feels the brunt of what they no nothing about in a crisis that happened in Delta State.
His words “Is one of a sad one that i cannot describe the level of pain on the family’s of the slain soldiers. But asking to know my take on how that matter has gradually snowball into an attack and invasion Bayelsa community is something I will demand a probe into that.
“Part of the reason is that this is Niger Delta that sometime people have been accused of something that they do not know about, so why am not disproving what level of evidence that’s available to the military, I will strongly demand some level of dip dive into this senerio because what had happened in Delta State as sad as it’s we weren’t expecting that we will loose or bear the greatest brunt were an entire community will be sacked and body of our young men and women liters the streets of Igbomotoru
The IYC president however disclosed that if paraventure the independent investigation do not reveal that people from Igbomotoru community did not played a role in what had led to the death of the military men, the Ijaws will not hesitate on sueing the federal government as in the case of Odi where the federal government was taken to court and eventually paid for damages.
The youth leader who do not subscribe to situations where people that are innocent and law abiding are punished before the criminals, admonished community leaders not to tolerate outlaws leaving in their communities because it poses serious dangers.
