Taraba Governor, Dr. Kefas, Engages 14 Investors To Drive Economic Development In The State


The Taraba State governor, His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has engaged fourteen local and international investors to drive economic, social and Technological development in the state.

During the first week of November, the governor and his entire exco, in a business summit with the fourteen different local and international technical and business investors, analyzed various proposed projects geared towards adding value to the Nature’s Gift to the nation’ state.
The visiting investors, mostly from America, Europe, Middle-East and Asia, while presenting their various project proposals to the governor, expressed their interest to key into the governor’s various developmental programs articulated towards effecting the needed positive changes in Taraba, taking advantage of the huge quantum of human, economic and natural potential of the state.
Most of the proposals which are targeted at tapping abundant resources all over the richly endowed state, that lies on a huge 60,291sq kilometers of mass arable land,(i.e,6.5% of Nigerian land mass), will enhance the expansion of the developmental strides of governor Kefas.
The state government had earlier articulated some of its developmental visions and missions in a booklet titled, “Taraba State investment potentials-Moving Taraba forward”, where it succinctly highlighted, inter alia, the preponderance of abundant natural resources nature has blessed the state with, which are mostly in huge mineral resources,(eg Uranium, Limestone, Gypsum, Gemstones, Kaolin, Gold, etc), Agriculture, enabling environment for the hospitality industry & tourism, etc, all these which has earned the state its maxim/motto as “NATURE GIFT TO THE NATION”.
Other critical areas of investment highlighted by the visiting investors are power generation (conventional and green energy), technological innovation in education, waste management, digital economy, etc.
One of the major visiting investors who partook in the business summit, the chairman of Maylidia and Co. Consortium and a former Nigerian Federal Legislator, Hon. Chidi Nwogu, affirmed his submission to collaborate with the state government, to ensure the governor achieves the Taraba of his dream.
The exercise ended successfully on Wednesday, 6th November 2024, with teams being treated to a sumptuous State Banquet at the Government Algon Resort by the state governor, ably represented by the deputy governor, Alhaji Aminu Alkali,
Highly elated and excited about the various presentations at the summit, the deputy governor stated that he is optimistic of the huge investment potential that will be anchored on this thoughtful initiative, to move the state to another developmental level in the future.
The state dinner, which also had all members of the state executive council in attendance, ended with a vote of thanks by the chairman of Maylidia & Co. Ltd Consortium, Hon. Chidi Nwogu, who spoke on behalf of all other teams of
investors present.
