The Special Investigator appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to examine the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under former Governor Godwin Emefiele, Mr Jim Obaze, has recommended the prosecution of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, over their alleged involvement in the controversial $6.2 million foreign exchange transaction.

In his report, Obaze recommended that the late Buhari be posthumously prosecuted, alleging that he was complicit in the withdrawal of $6.2 million from the Federal Government’s Foreign Exchange Account domiciled at the CBN.

The investigator also called for the arraignment of Boss Mustapha alongside former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele to face charges arising from the disputed transaction.

The recommendations are contained in the report submitted by the special investigator after his probe into the operations of the apex bank during Emefiele’s tenure.

The allegations remain unproven in court, and no formal charges have been filed against any of the individuals named in the report.
