UCC Mourns Loss of Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Ewhrudjakpor, Veteran Publisher, Onyadongha
The United Correspondents Chapel (UCC) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bayelsa State Council has expressed profound shock and sadness at the sudden passing of Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpor, and veteran publisher, Chief Union Onyadongha.
In a statement, the UCC described Senator Ewhrudjakpor as a dedicated, committed and exemplary leader who served Bayelsa State with distinction, leaving behind a legacy of developmental strides.
His tenure as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure and Senator representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District was marked by simplicity, forthrightness, and patriotism, setting a shining example for others to emulate.
The UCC extended its heartfelt condolences to Senator Ewhrudjakpor’s family, the people of Bayelsa State, and the Niger Delta region, noting that his peaceful soul would find rest in the bosom of the Almighty God.
In another development, UCC also mourned the loss of Chief Union Onyadongha, publisher of the Banner Newspaper and founding member of the Bayelsa Independent Publishers Association, BIPA who passed away on December 13, 2025.
The organization described him as a thoroughbred professional who contributed significantly to journalistic excellence and the growth of newspaper publishing in Bayelsa State and the Niger Delta region.
The UCC conveyed its deepest condolences to Chief Onyadongha’s family, Gbarantoru community, and the Bayelsa Independent Publishers Association, acknowledging his dedication and commitment to the profession.
