WHEN HUMANITY IS LOST IN THE HUMANITARIAN AFFAIRS.

The happenings in the ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management calls for sober reflection..

Yoruba adage goes thus: ” ẹni àní ko fẹ ni lójú to fata senu. Ẹní ani ko kini lẹyìn to f’ẹgun s’ọwọ. Ẹni a bá f’ọrọ lọ ká mu dídùn ọsan, kikan lo gbé fún ni” meaning: the one that we begged to blow wind into our eyes to remove the dirt put pepper in his mouth! The one we begged to help us scratch our hitching back has laced his hands with shrapnel! The one we solicited to drink sweet orange juice as a consolation has brought lime!
This is the situation in the humanitarian affairs and disaster management ministry. Indeed it has lost its humanity and indeed, the mismanagement of the disaster is a bigger disaster!

Yet, the biggest disaster in this hullabaloo is the shout of being gender sensitive and youths inclusiveness. My fear is that methinks the women folks are putting feminine touch to the corruption in the Nigeria’s political space. Let me go a bit philosophical on this. Women are more emotional than men. When it comes to the issue of money, they are showing us that they could perform wonders. What a man can do, women seem to be doing better. We have their veteran in Oduah and Dezieani of this world. The pioneer ministers has been accused of sleaze. I am not saying so but I am sure of corruption done under her because yours truly was a victim of COVID palliative. Now, her successor called Beta is not even better!

Nigerian youths are the most shortchanged in this disaster. We have gone a long struggle to be given political space and thankfully, we have a convenient placement in Tinubu’s administration. It is expected that we use the opportunity to prove the nay sayers wrong that we youths are well prepared to take on the administration of this ailing nation. It goes without saying that President Tinubu will be very disappointed in this misdemeanor hence his decisive action.

Looking from a distance, I want to believe that the devil later visited our lady by a way of wrong financial advice. I deduce it because I watched her appearance at the hallow chambers of the Nigerian senate and house of assembly. I saw how passionate she was while convincing the honourable members of the fidelity with which she intended to reach down to the poorest of the poor. Then, I began to ask myself what has gone wrong or came over our lady. I couldn’t get it right. So, I have to return same question to the honourable minister. It is highly unfortunate that youths look up to her and other youths in Tinubu’s cabinet hopefully that they will register us a capable. Beta took a wrong tragectory and tow trouble and shame to herself.

Another disaster is the politics of religion and religion of Politics that baptized sister Beta. Rather than competence, she claimed that Bishop Oyedepo’s prayer made her a minister of the federal republic of Nigeria.!. Yet, such prayer didn’t close the gate of hell on her is still a researchable topic. The way religion is killing competence and reasoning in Nigeria is seriously worrisome. We are very religious. We have the national mosque and national ecumenical centre in the nation’s capital. This is very rare among comity of nations. However, we rank high in the global corruption index. Perhaps we maintain a reinforced disconnect from operationalization of our religious ethos. This is a spiritual disaster.

My take. This amalgam of dark values mustn’t continue this way. We must do something quick and quickly so. Thanks to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who doesn’t allow Better to be lucky like her predecessors in amalgam of corruption and feminism whose President was either unaware or supportive.

On top of all these, GOD BLESS NIGERIA!
