Senate Reacts to Tragic Jigawa Tanker Explosion: Urges Sensitization and Relief Efforts


The Nigerian Senate has responded to the devastating tanker explosion near Dutse, Jigawa State, which claimed the lives of over 100 people.
Expressing shock and concern over the incident, the Senate has issued a new directive to address the situation.
In a motion sponsored by Senator Babangida Hussein from Jigawa North, the Senate called on the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the National Emergency Management Agency to provide relief materials to surviving victims of the explosion. Additionally, the National Orientation Agency has been tasked with conducting extensive sensitization campaigns on the dangers of scooping fuel from fallen trucks.

Speaking on the matter, Senate President Godswill Akpabio emphasized the importance of educating Nigerians about the risks involved in such practices. The Senate’s swift response highlights the need for immediate action to prevent similar tragedies and protect the lives of citizens.
