The First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has commended the innovative contributions of Nigerian women in food security during the grand finale of the EveryHomeAGarden Competition hosted by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in Abuja.
The competition, organized under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), highlighted the transformative power of home gardening in addressing food scarcity and empowering women. At the event, Mrs. Veronica Kidafa Mabaya, a 62-year-old retiree from Borno State, was announced as the winner, receiving a grand prize of #20 million. Other finalists were also rewarded for their efforts, with additional support provided by the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADFUND) and state governments.
Hajiya Zainab lauded the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for initiating the program and promoting the agricultural potential of Nigerian women. She affirmed her commitment to replicating such impactful initiatives in Kebbi State to empower women and promote sustainable agriculture.
The Kebbi First Lady reaffirmed that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Nasir Idris, remains committed to improving the livelihoods of women through agricultural empowerment, skill development, and targeted programs that enhance self-reliance.
The “EveryHomeAGarden” Competition not only celebrated the achievements of women farmers but also underscored the importance of innovation in addressing national food security challenges.
