NCDMB, Aimed At Reducing Capital Flight In Nigeria.

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) Engr Simbi Wabote, says the Board is making efforts to curb capital flight in the country.

Speaking during the 2023 Practical Nigerian Content Forum (PNC) Youth Forum, On Tuesday, 5th December, 2023 at Harold Biriye Hall, Govt House, Yenagoa. Wabote said that the essence of reducing capital flight is for the development of the country.
The Executive Secretary, who was represented by the General Manager, Corporate Communication and Zonal Coordination, Mrs Angela Okoro,
maintained that due to the effort of the board, capital flight is now low about 52%, adding that the benefits are enormous because monies that’s suppose to be spent outside it’s been plough back for the development of the country.

While highlighting activities of the board, Wabote, hinted that the board will never relent on capacity building of Nigerians especially those from host communities, he also explained that the board monitors activities of oil and gas companies so as to ensure they meet up with their social responsibilities.
His words ” One of the critical things we want to do, is to reduce the amount of money that goes outside the country as at now is about 52%, we have reduced it to 52% and that’s a plus to the board, not just the board alone but a plus to the country, because all the monies that ordinary have gone out have been brought inside and will be use for the development of Nigeria.
“one activities of the board is to build the capacity of all Nigerians, but laying emphasis in host communities in all the oil and gas companies wherever they may be found, and not just that alone, NCDMB also monitors activities of this oil and gas companies, there’s a form they normally fill (Content Development- Plan) and in that plan they will tell us what they will do for the Host Communities, so our responsibility is to ensure whatever they have written in that Development plan is been carried out.
The Executive Secretary,further stated that the board is doing so much,such as the rolling out of a ten years development plan to achieve specific milestones .
In his remarked, the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, who was represented by the Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Hon Braladei Igali, said the government is committed to the development of Bayelsa youths in ensuring they compete favourably with youths from other parts of the country.
Diri, who said as a government they have equiped the youths with various programs, and will not relent on empowering it’s people, further encouraged, the participants to put whatever learnt to use.
The governor who frowned at some of the youths not taking previous programs seriously, advised them not to toll such line as it will only make them unproductive, emphasizing that t he program is a building blocks for them to live a productive life in society.
While calling on the youths to make judicious use of all they will be taught,Diri, thanked the NCDMB for the continuous support and opportunity given to the youths, further promised that government and NCDMB collaboration will be a continuous one.
His words ” We want to ensure that youth from Bayelsa compete favourably, if not do well more than their counterparts from other parts of the country.As a government we have initiated and brought about such programs, and today I want to urge all of you to not only sit down and listen, but to also participate because what we have observed overtime we come in here we take part in this program but we don’t actually make use of what we learnt.”

In his paper presentation,on the Topic:Uderstanding our Diversity as a tool for effective conflict management.
Dr Patterson Ogon, (Executive assistant to the Governor of Bayelsa State.) talked on the need for conflict to be properly managed for productivity to strive.
According to Ogon,Conflict occurs when two or more people believe that their interests is incompatible,he further highlighted the various conflict resolution techniques as to avoid crisis,accommodation,compromise and Competition .
He also talked about conflict, what went wrong, type of conflict which he said is the internal and external conflict.he went further to make mention of the various sources of conflict as Differences in behaviour and communication style our prices and value.
