Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri,On Monday confirmed the receipt of 20 trucks of rice from the Federal Government in Yenagoa.
The governor also directed the immediate distribution to the people in communities across the state irrespective of political party except political appointees and civil servants.
He instructed those in charge to ensure that the rice as well as garri palliative get to those that truly need them, warning that the process must not be bungled like in the past when he got reports that such palliatives were mismanaged.
“I have directed that the distribution of the 20 trucks of rice received from the Federal Government should start today. That rice should not be given to any political appointee or civil servants. Only those in our communities who do not benefit directly from the government should get it. The rice has no PDP or APC face. I urge all Bayelsans to continue to support their government.”
It would recalled The Nigerian government, led by President Bola Tinubu, had announced a plan to distribute 740 trucks of rice to the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The initiative aims to address the current economic hardship and food inflation, which stands at 40.87.
