Agoro Progressive Youths Forum (APYF) has commended the Miracle and People’s Governor, Senator Douye Diri and his Dependable, Resourceful and Workaholic Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for the massive road infrastructure ongoing across the state.

In a statement issued by the group Coordinator, Comrade Preye Bagou, stated that the commendation became necessary and pertinent, as the prosperity government is working tremendously in road construction to link rural communities to the state capital to boost economic activities.

“As a state, we have experienced massive road infrastructure (some completed while some ongoing across the state) by the prosperity government since the beginning of the government, which is quite overwhelming and commendable.

The prosperity government overtime, has maintained the solid foundation of infrastructure, security, sports, education, healthcare, agriculture and human capital development laid down by the restoration government towards the development of the state to improve the people’s welfare.

“In developing nations and states, good road-network and security with stable government economic policies are major economic factors that contributes immensely towards the growth of the economy, which the prosperity government has done tremendously well and continuing.

While appreciating the government for the massive road infrastructure, Comrade Bagou appealed to the Governor, Senator Douye Diri to consider the Agoro-Bulou-Orua 5km road in the 2025 budget as promised by the governor during his visit to the community for campaigns last year.

The people of Agoro community have suffered an undeserved hardship for the past decades, due to absence of a motorable road to enhance agricultural, commercial, social and economic activities to other communities within the local government area and the state.

Sadly, the Agoro-Bulou-Orua 5km road was first awarded by the Old Rivers State Government in 1986, but was later abandoned after the clearing phase. In 1991, the Old Rivers Government reawarded the road project, but was still later abandoned as usual without pity.

Furthermore, the same 5km road was awarded by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2015, but nothing was done by the contractor until the commission revoked contract last year (2023).

For record purposes, the Agoro community has been a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since the practice of a Democratic System of Government in Nigeria in 1999. The people haven’t relented in their unwavering commitment and support for the party over the years.

While appealing to the Governor and his Deputy for the possible consideration and inclusion of the road in the 2025 budget, Comrade Bagou stated that the prosperity government is the last hope of the people of the community to have a motorable road seemingly.

The group while being confident of Governor Diri’s fulfillment of his promise during the campaigns, noted that the commencement and timely completion of the 5km road will create an unforgettable and uncommon record in the history of the community specifically.

Comrade Bagou further reiterated the people of Agoro community unwavering commitment and support for the Governor, Senator Douye Diri, the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and the Prosperity Government.
