Ilara-Mokin Day: Adu ‘Cubana’ donates N5m, drums support for Tinubu, Aiyedatiwa

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, a philanthropist and frontline aspirant for the Ondo Central Senatorial District, Dr (Barr.) Olumuyiwa Adu, fondly known as “Cubana,” has urged the people of the State to continue rallying behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as they champion progressive governance at the national and state levels.
Adu made the call on Saturday during the 46th Ilara-Mokin Day Celebration held at the palace of the Alara of Ilara-Mokin in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Ilara-Mokin, historically one of the earliest Yoruba settlements, traces its origin to Ile-Ife, the cradle of Yoruba civilisation.
Its founding groups, led by Alara Onitipin and later Alara Agunsoye, migrated from Ile-Ife through several settlements before arriving at their present location.
The town has since been traditionally administered by 27 Alaras prior to the current monarch.

This year’s celebration was colourful and well-attended, featuring cultural displays and a strong turnout of indigenes, traditional rulers, political leaders, religious figures, captains of industry, and other dignitaries who gathered to celebrate the community’s heritage and development strides.
Adu, who is Chairman of the ocassion, urged Nigerians to give President Tinubu the necessary support to successfully implement policies aimed at stabilising the economy and correcting structural imbalances.
“Our President is pursuing the mandate bestowed upon him with diligence, wisdom, and fairness. He is stabilising the economy, restoring national dignity, and improving living conditions.
He needs our collective support and prayers to overcome inherited challenges,” he said.
Adu also criticised those allegedly fuelling campaigns of calumny against Governor Aiyedatiwa, noting that the governor has recorded commendable achievements in less than a year in office.
He encouraged the electorate to remain united and focused on electing credible representatives at all levels.
He stressed that his remarks were not intended to curry favour, adding: “My upbringing does not encourage sycophancy.
“With my experience in governance, including the Babangida administration era, I can affirm that President Tinubu must take hard but necessary decisions to rescue the nation from stagnation, insecurity, debt, and social imbalance.”
Adu further described Governor Aiyedatiwa as a leader whose quality of projects and choice of credible appointees reflect a genuine commitment to good governance in Ondo State.
A major highlight of the event was the fundraising session to support ongoing community development efforts. Adu donated N5 million to aid Ilara-Mokin’s self-help projects, demonstrating his trademark generosity and commitment to grassroots development.
He commended the Egbe Omo Ilara-Mokin Worldwide for organising the event and praised the Alara of Ilara-Mokin, His Royal Majesty Oba Abiodun Aderemi Adefehinti, FCA, FCCA, JP, for his leadership and unifying role in advancing the town.
“Ilara is my second home. I spent part of my youth in this friendly and culturally rich town. I will always support Ilara whenever the need arises,” he declared.
The warm reception accorded to Dr Olumuyiwa Adu during the celebration underscored his rising political influence, strong local acceptance, and the respect he commands both nationally and internationally.
